Dear Investor,
Zee here. Every 23rd of the month, we’ve been sharing our portfolio progress publicly on X. Starting this month, we’re switching things up, instead of short posts, we’ll be sending out a monthly newsletter update on our portfolio that dives deeper into our moves and shows exactly how we practice what we teach.
Here goes:
Public Portfolio Update: September 2025
YTD performance: +22.06%
MTD performance: +5.99%
S&P500 YTD: trailing behind.
Cash left uninvested: USD 124, 568.23
We missed the August 2025 portfolio updates as we spent the whole month researching and planning trades for the annual discounted September month. Nonetheless, the August 2025 portfolio would be the same as July 2025 as no trades were taken.
As shared on X, the July 2025 portfolio was almost all cash. Below, you would find the screenshot of our July 2025 portfolio.
What we did wrong:
(1) In July 2025, worried about the S&P 500 hitting new All Time Highs (ATH), we closed all positions waiting for a dip below the MA50 (yellow line). The dip didn’t came.
(2) We also missed the 1st August 2025 dip (1st green tick), hoping for a deeper correction, aiming for below the MA50 (yellow line). The dip didn’t came.
(3) We reflected on what we taught in class about not timing the market and how time in the market always triumphs over timing the market. As a lesson to ourselves, we put this into practice and deployed 60% into our watchlist on 2nd September 2025 (2nd green tick). I wrote this article as a lasting reminder.
What we did well:
(1) Had a watchlist ready of high quality conviction stocks.
(2) Had a watchlist ready of good ETFs.
(3) Don’t over-invest in 1 stock, stick to proper risk management rules.
(4) Avoid FOMO, enter when the market is fearful. See Below: In April 2025, despite the huge dip caused by Trump’s tariffs and as the markets continue to fall, we continued entering (1) and (2).
P.S. On 7th October, Tuesday at 830pm (GMT+8), We’re breaking down NVIDIA using the same methods we apply in our own investing. No fluff, just clear insights you can use.
